Volunteers

So the next step for the garden is to get more volunteers. We need at least 10 committed volunteers that want to help in the planning, building and maintaining of the project. So tell all you neighbors and friends and then either send me an email stating your interest or let me know on the blog. My email is atrim880@hotmail.com.

Sprouting

This is a sprouting pack that I bought
and I have been hooked on sprouting
ever since. It is a great way to have fresh greens in the winter as they don't need any sun. I have been experimenting with different seeds the best ones so far are mung beans, lentils and alfalfa. It is so easy to do all you have to remember to do is rinse I leave my jar by my kitchen sink then i rinse them with the dishes. I use the jar method because it is the easiest.

Raised beds

Introduction

So we had our first meeting on May 12 to see if there was anyone interested in starting a community garden in Riverbend and there was a couple people interested so I am forging ahead to the application with the City to get approval for the garden.

If you are interested in finding out about the application process I would welcome the help and support check it out on the city web page www.calgary.ca

Also there is a lot of information on the calgary horticulture page on how to go about starting a community garden

http://www.calhort.org/communitygardening/default.aspx

I am going to be talking with Guy Beavers the city liaison about finding a plot for the garden and then i will update the site to get feedback on the site and the site plan.
